Your Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your responsibilities, but at most one-fifth of your working time.
You will conduct research together with Jendrik Seipp, Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence at LiU.
The research projects for the advertised position will be within the fields of automated planning and machine learning. The focus will be on developing and automatically learning new methods to effectively solve planning tasks. The projects will encompass both theoretical and experimental work.
Your Qualifications
To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be obtained no later than at the time the employment decision is made.
It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a candidate who obtained their doctoral degree earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leaves of absence.
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher eager to conduct outstanding research in AI. We expect an excellent publication record in areas such as automated planning, machine learning, logic, or combinatorial optimization. Furthermore, the applicant should have very good programming and communication skills, as well as a high proficiency in both spoken and written English.

Your Workplace
The Department of Computer Science (IDA) was founded in 1983, but our roots go back to the early 1970s. It is one of the largest computer science departments in Northern Europe. Our research covers a wide range of areas, from fundamental computer science to applied fields. The extensive research also impacts our undergraduate and graduate education, leading us to offer courses in several civil and engineering programs, as well as programs in innovative programming, cognitive science, and statistics. You will be employed at Machine Reasoning (MR), which is one of the units in the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Integrated Computer Systems (AIICS). In our research laboratory, we develop machines that can reason and act in complex environments. Our primary research area is automated planning, which we complement with techniques from machine learning, combinatorial optimization, and operations research. Read more here.
About the Position
The position is a fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.
Start date by agreement.
